Chain conveyor with different wear protection linings

WPE DK has completed two interesting projects
this month.

In the first project for a coal-fired power plant, a
new chain conveyor for boiler ash was to be lined
with cast basalt plates. The order included the
delivery of HEX tiles with a plate thickness of
30 mm and the assembly on site in the power plant.
Since the WPE DK assembly team has already
lined several chain conveyors with a wide variety
of materials in recent years, this assembly was
purely routine.

In the second project, a chain conveyor in a potash
mine was to be repaired. Here, the original cast basalt
lining did not meet the expectation of a long service
life with low maintenance intervals. The management
has decided to completely re-line with UHPC wear
protection. The operating conditions are very
aggressive in terms of corrosion and wear. The
management decision for UHPC was based on the
experience in other parts of the company above and
below ground. The assembly was difficult due to
the spatial constraints for the fitters.
Despite all this, the WPE team was finished four
days earlier than planned.
Due to the current maintenance schedule, the plant
management plans to re-line another chain conveyor
with UHPC at the next plant shutdown.
