Again and again on construction sites around the world, I see during the installation of UHPC, especially with mortar inadequate tools.UHPC mortar can not be thrown like plaster on the wall, it will adhere only very inadequate. UHPC mortar must be applied with force. In our practical training lessons in our technology center in the USA and Europe we practice this on different training walls made of steel, concrete and wood. Anyone who has ever learned to apply UHPC can also strip large areas in a short time.
To get this assembly speed you need very good tools. Plastic smoother/trowel are too fragile. Steel smoother/trowel invest a large part of their energy in bending the steel blade.
We have been working for more than 20 years with a special smoother/trowel, whose edges are bent upwards, so that the whole sheet is extremely rigid and all energy that the installer applies is used for the installation of UHPC mortar. Due to the bending, even very smooth surfaces can be achieved during installation. Such a smoother/trowel is normally more than two year in use by our installer.
