Is there a difference between preparing a UHPC material and cooking Muffins?

A few days ago, I was having dinner together with a good
friends, which are baker and cook. they asked me who in
my opinion is best suited for the processing of my material
and I answered spontaneously, a baker.

My friends laughed and said that this was a joke, as cake
baking and preparing a UHPC Ultra High Performance
Concrete could not be farther apart.

Well, to convince my friends, I invited them to our lab next
weekend. We wanted to find out if I am right with my
statement.
We also have stoves and small mixing machines in our
lab, even a KitchenAid. Forms, a recipe and the right ingredients
for a really good muffin have brought the bakers.
It has never smelt so good in our laboratory as it did that day

To make a very good muffin or a
Ultra High Performance Concrete
you need
  • A very good recipe
  • High quality raw materials
  • Very good home appliances
  • To stick to every detail in the recipe
  • Very good workmanship
It's true, of course, if you do not keep as close as possible
to the (mixed) recipe, it will not do anything with the muffin,
nor with the UHPC Ultra High Performance Concrete.

In our comparative test, of course, we also tried out a
somewhat more "flexible" (mixing) recipe design in
addition to the precisely adhering mixtures. Result of
this experiment:
The muffin did not become a muffin and the UHPC did
not become a UHPC

All of us resumee:
Use good raw materials, stick as closely as possible to the
(mixed) recipe and you'll end up with a perfect muffin or UHPC.
